We have touched on this subject before (mysaltysociables.blogspot.com/2011/09/pretzels.html), but I believe it is worth repeating - and today we will delve deeper into the importance of an assistant in TV shows. It could be thought of as

*yes we just made that up, but I think by the end of this post you'll agree that it is valid

For every Batman, you need a great side-kick and in the office world, your side-kick is your assistant.

As we've mentioned before, Melissa's assistant Stephanie (from Melissa & Joey) is a great asset to the show. She's hyperactive and has a crush on Joe, which always makes us laugh. In Drop Dead Diva Jane has a great no-nonsense, go-getter for an assistant.

Terri keeps Jane grounded and doesn't like to take crap from people, and makes sure Jane doesn't either. Plus the fact that she's a Private Detective (as well as an assistant) makes her super cool in our book.

In Fairly Legal, Kate Reed has a fabulous assistant named Leonardo Prince (usually called Leo for short). He's enthusiastic, quite resourceful and he has a knack for keeping Kate out of trouble with her boss and her clients (yes, I paraphrased that from Wikipedia, but why rewrite what already works?).

The character bio on USA's website states that Leo is “…unflappable, and, thanks to his vast and varied connections – and seeming ability to know what Kate needs before even she knows she needs it – invaluable.” And they made my point – plain as day. These assistants are invaluable to the shows! Plus I like the added depth they give to the shows...the subplots and such. Well, I hope that you'll agree with us that they're indispensable. And if you have an assistant, please thank them, because you know you couldn't do it without them.

We also want to point out that although our poll was in no way scientific (since only 3 people voted), the Peach Gummies won with 66% of the votes.

A SHORT & SWEET REVIEW: It's a fabulous movie and you should all go see it.

The combination of Dolly Parton & Queen Latifa was sublime - they went together like butter & biscuits! Would love to see them do more movies together...

The crazy chicas here at TTWT may not be southern, but they grew up in small-town Baptist churches so they could most definitely relate to the plot line. Inlcuding the part where the mother doesn't let the daughter hang out with boys even though she's 16 already. The choir's final musical number completely blew us away - it was indeed the icing on the cake. Sorry to switch tenses on you there - just seemed more "movie reviewerish" to speak in 3rd person...

Great to see this year’s turn out in Washington, D.C. for the 39th annual March for Life, despite the drizzly rain and cold temperatures. Our favorite chant from this year was:

Pretty fabulous don't you think? We also loved the group wearing Dr. Seuss hats and carrying signs saying “A Person’s A Person, No Matter How Small!”

Just a little throw back to our birthday weekend trip :)

We had our TTWT on Saturday this week, after catching the last few minutes of a loved one's basketball game. Everyone says putz - who doesn't say putz?

In an attempt to balance work and mother-hood, I delegated grocery shopping to my young babysitter. But the job proved a tad daunting. One day while I was at work, she texted me from the supermarket, "can't find the Brillo pads, all they have are Tampax and Kotex."

Just a little joke we read in Reader's Digest - thought you might enjoy that.
Anyway, we had the pleasure of watching The Disorderly Orderly this afternoon. It is a very unique movie, with a somewhat murky plot line. Jerry Lewis has a phenomenal presence and there are many comical moments. Our favorite scene was when he finally kisses the girl he's been pining away for since High School and he says to her, "It's not July 4th, it's supposed to be July 4th." And she replies, "Doesn't July 3rd work too?" Of course July 3rd doesn't work - everyone knows that, but she so desperately wanted to be loved...

Please forgive our tardiness, with everyone heading back to work and school after the holiday break we just haven't been able to get together! Even our plans for tonight were thwarted... But here is a new post to tide you over until next week :)

A Lumber Jack or Freddy Krueger

A night of carving pumpkins :) What fun! Apparently carving a pumpkin makes a wonderful member feel like a lumber jack (or maybe Freddy Krueger) - she wasn't sure which. Also, it seems that pumpkin guts make Ruth break out in a rash, but it goes away pretty quickly once she washed off (not to alarm anyone, but to warn them of one of the unknown dangers of pumpkin carving).

A certain someone who is still single could come up with only one reason to explain this phenomenon, "Not many men can handle this much woman!" And after much laughter we were apt to agree! This does leave one to wonder how someone who steals all the cake could get a man. But "SOMEONE" steals all the men and all the cake! It makes no sense, but yet the world goes on....

My it's been awhile since we've all sat on the beach "with our toes in the water" and "Only worry in the world is the tide gonna reach my chair." But to bring back those lovely memories and tell our dedicated readers of some of our fun times I thought I'd post these recently remembered quotes.

"I'm going with the Mennonite bun on this one." -Sometimes a tight bun on the top of your head is the only way to roll in true style.

"You could get aids from this elevator."- Some of our TTWT members are germaphobe's and feel that elevators are unsanitary. This is potentially true but some would say aids goes a little to far with the phobia.

Hard to believe it's over... No, not TTWT!!! Just this season of Melissa & Joey!

Sorry, didn't mean to give any of you a heart attack! The season finale was a few weeks ago and after quite a few set backs we're finally watching it tonight - can't wait to see what happens! Not sure what we'll do with ourselves now that M&J is over for the year, but I'm sure we'll think of something!

How about this blast from the past? Yes we're girls, so most of our posts have hot men just because they're hot. So even if you could care less about what we do on Tuesdays, you can at least check our blog to view hot men you may have forgotten existed :)

Hello our dear followers!
Tonight was the first night of summer! We started out our evening by taking on the local crossword, "seven out of fifty-eight correct!" After the beastly crossword, we took a brief swim in the pool with "bo bo" the clown and our flotation devices, or lack thereof. All the while singing and making whirl pools. After freezing our butts off and spending some good quality time with our dear physician, we retired for a favorite chick flick.

TACO TUESDAYS!!

Thank you all for joining us for this special edition of Totally Time-Worthy Tuesday. Our Dearest Physician is back!!! It has been quite awhile and for her return we made home-made tacos. Hardcore, you-bet-your-sweet-britches we made em by hand :)

Start with taco meat, and the fixes (lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, cheese & taco sauce)

Mix the below ingredients in a large mixing bowl:

3 Cups of Flour
2 tsp. Baking Powder
1 tsp. salt

Add the vegetable shortening or lard (or a combo of 1/2 and 1/2) - 6 Tbsp. Vegetable Shortening or lard

Use a fork or pastry cutter to cut in the shortening or just do it with your hands.

Next add 1 1/4 cups warm water (a little at a time) until your dough is soft & not sticky. *The water doesn't need to be that hot.

Knead the dough for a few minutes.

Pull pieces of dough off and form about 12 dough balls. Let them rest for about 10 minutes (or longer if you'd like).

Heat up a cast iron pan (set it to about medium, if it's too hot the tortilla's will cook too fast.

Not you can roll the dough out.

Lay your tortilla on the hot pan, if takes just a few seconds to cook. Flip it to the other side. The should have nice brown speckles when they're cooked. Place them in a towel or tortilla warmer until ready to serve.

VOILA!! And boy were they fantastic!! Can't you tell by the look on our faces?

Totally Time Worth Tuesday was brought to you on Friday of last week. After a weather delay (yes, even when it is sunny and 85 out there can be weather delays - who wants to blog when it's nice outside?) here is the weekly update.

We cut out copious amounts of coupons, there was about 4lbs of coupons in all. And we almost got them all cut out. Took us about 2 hours or so (but we were watching House Bunny and Reba episodes, so that does create some distraction) - but we cranked them out. Since some of our members always seem to be quoting House Bunny (mainly just "Good morning Pooter! You're looking dapper!") it was decided that we needed to watch it as a group and I must say that although it is sad how unintelligent the main character may seem at times, it does have some great lines and was good for some humor.

"The only magic I ever did was try to figure out how to stay in college for nine years and not go back to my trailer park in Idaho."

"Instead of the Mahi-Mahi, can I get just the one Mahi, because I'm not that hungry?"

So stay tuned for next week on our regularly scheduled TTWT. We will be making homemade tacos in honor of Taco Tuesday :) Hopefully we'll have lots of pictures and we might even attach our recipe for our fans to make at home! And always remember "Kindness is just love with its work boots on."

On a beautiful Monday evening we gathered as is our ritual (only not on Tuesday) to share coupons and good times :) We enjoyed a showing of Sydney White and ate chips and salsa (a personal favorite of one of our members).

Yeah, still super attractive :) And most of us don't even like facial hair, but he can most certainly pull it off ;)

Oldest line in the book (a couple looking at a fantastic view - and then he turns to her as she asks) "Doesn't this just look beautiful?" "Yes, yes it does" he replies, while looking at her. And it's cute, if he really means it... So for our male readership, a note of advice - if you mean it, go ahead and use that line :)

Spring is definitely in the air - love is all around :) ha ha ha ha So we had about 2lbs of coupons to clip and we got them all done!! It was a minor miracle to be sure. So the verdict is currently that 75% of us prefer a dark haired man..... The blonde members among us would choose a blonde man if only because of the blonde hair/blue eyed children to come. But in the end the tall dark & handsome complexion won out.... So if anyone knows some handsome, tall, and dark men that are available - feel free to let us know ;)

So our new super hot, up and coming (whatever you wanna call it), just discovered man is Riley Smith. Google him, super hot : ) Better yet - here's a picture...

We flipped to Radio and found this very attractive young man :) Ahhhh the time has gotten away from us. Time to head on home.... Good night all....

Well well well here we are again. Another Time worthy tuesday and my how timeworth it has been! It began around 7 as I began studying for math. That wasn't fun until I received a text from the girls telling me they were on there way! But better yet when they arrived they arrived with chocolate cheesecake! If you didn't hear this past Sunday wwas National Chocolate Cheesecake Day. As we enjoyed are cheesecake in the kitchen we discussed our lives and read over the upcoming days. Tomorrow for example is National Peanut Cluster Day. So to all the folks who read our humble blog.. May you have an exceptionally dandy Peanut Cluster Day!
We watched another Fairly Legal tonight and enjoyed the thrilling drama the tv show provided us. Then we continued on to watch a few episodes of Reba! We munched on some Pineapple that my father so generously gave us!

Well the night started out with dinner and chatting with the rents. We then progressed to watching Fairly Legal, but go interrupted by the call to pick up Ruth's lost/stolen purse from a few months ago. *Quite an impressive story in its own right. Anyway, they went to meet the trucker who found the purse (and somehow he turned out to be young & quite attractive). So while waiting we watched the end of Sweet Home Alabama and the beginning of The Fast & The Furious. All while checking out men on ChristianSingles.com - there are a few cuties I will admit : ) - so while 2 of us were checking out virtual men, the other 2 were meeting real (attractive) local men...... Sometimes life just doesn't seem so fair. So now we're all back together again and finishing our episode of Fairly Legal.

Although we were missing a member we did indeed meet for our weekly tradition. After an episode of Fairly Legal (which we loved) we enjoyed Fired Up. Also laughed at a commercial for the new show "Unpopable" which looked utterly ridiculous! We are also quite in love with Paula Dean (that was of course said with a Southern Accent). We'd just love to cook with her. Since we have to "risk it to get the biscuit" we think we might take our road trip to Cape Horn thru Georgia just so we can cook with her.

*Punch* "That was for the Crocs. You're not a grandma in her garden or a baby at the beach!"

Ever seen Transformers? Yeah, that would be why we're searching for a fighting man who looks good in a suit. He looks....mmmmm -so dreamy!! And he can drive like nobodies business!

Well due to schedules and the like we had to miss a week so we've made up for lost time by enjoying an episode of Fairly Legal. An awesome new USA Network show. Just a few weeks old and quite witty to boot! Since we're still unsure of the return date for Melissa & Joey we decided we would revel in our new show for the time being. Paul Blart was a nice diversion - gotta love Pahood. All Paul's antics and seeming mistakes that turn out for the best... A good pick you up sorta movie. A bit like pie with peanut butter on top, just fills in the cracks of your heart.

Well the night was semi-uneventful, but extremely delightful, as always. Mom made us cookies!!! They were so tasty. Well since looking good has nothing to do with dying we're gonna head out.....

Really Not Feeling It

We were perusing the channels in search of something to occupy our evening when we stumbled upon Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid - and the only part of the movie worth remember is "Has anyone ever told you your lips are like succulent Brussels sprouts."

Well we're going to have to come clean at this point and admit that after that line we could not in good conscious finish the movie. So instead we watched Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit. We all thought we had seen it before, but alas we had not! So it was a wonderful surprise. Best line: "Don't fret, my mother use to say 'Nothing is impossible if you keep a little faith and a big role of electric tape with you. 'HEELLLOOOOOOOOO"

And then we had a bit of Reba therapy. Van & Barbara Jean sure make that show worth it....

VAN: "Denver is dangerous, especially during hurricane season!"

Driving to Cape Horn....

We have been inspired. One of us will build a GTO, one of us will get the tunes and DJ, one of us will be the navigator and one of us will drive. So yeah, that's the plan - DRIVE TO CAPE HORN - ROAD TRIP!! Yeah if anyone can guess what movie we just watched based off that description you win Publisher's Clearinghouse!!

So advice for the day: Never stick a genius in your trunk - he'll rat you out every time!

If any of us are ever questioned by the FBI we'll never be able to go with them anywhere.... Always run, never get in their car & don't believe them when they say they'll take you somewhere safe & secure. They don't mean it.

So in the course of the evening we learned some other valuable lessons: if your apartment door doesn't have a dead bolt, get a concealed weapons permit (nah, just open the door with a pistol!). Also, once you've seen the inside of the honeycomb you can't go home. *We learned that from the genius they stuck in the trunk.

Now a certain someone just admitted that Tom Cruise doesn't really rank up there with Sylvester Stallone, Russel Crowe, Rambo or even Buzz Light Year!! Apparently he's a wienie.... Oh wait, Woody's the wienie...

Our last piece of advice for the night: If you ever hold up a restaurant hand out pie. I hear the sugar helps the shock & trauma for the victims. *Sorry, I thought you were making a move. Pies, pies for everyone!

GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS!! The coupons we clipped weighed quite a bit, but I'm sure those in Germany will appreciate them.

Snow, Snow….and MORE snow…

In light of the above report we felt it best not to venture out. That is not to say that Totally Time-Worthy Tuesday is not “necessary,” but simply that to venture out might not be prudent. I feel the choice was wise considering most school’s cancelled the next morning. Our lack of time together was felt by all, but with the promise of next week, we shouldered on into the week.

Tonight when we gathered together in the place of meeting between the mountain of Shpandooo and the river of Shpatogaaa. The meeting began as usual. We opened with the TTWT pledge and took roll call and all five members were present. After the member read us an article from the newspaper (she shall be referred to as Articles), another member made a comical remark about Articles' article (this member shall be referred to as Comic) and the group laughed, WHEN suddenly they were interrupted by a loud daunting bark coming from the forest of Sphooosh that lingered just beyond the path that shant be travelled. The first reaction of one member was to yell back "That absolutely does not live here!" (she'll be caled Absolutely) . Comic knowing she the noise meant danger fleww from the house even if it meant running into danger. While she was gone the four turned and continued eating sociables. "My sociables are really salty?" commented one member (she"ll shall be called Really). Article was about to reply to this when Comic came sprinting in. She collapsed on the floor and nurse Absolutely was first to help her. We call her nurse because as one member would put it "Why put off the inevitable" (she's called Hinevitable). Comic lieing on the floor gasped for water. Article being the quick thinker in the group grabs her glass and throws the contents onto the face of Comic.
"Gee Thanks" says Comic
"No problem"
"Back on subject. What was out there?" asked Absolutely
"What? What was where? Ohhh out there It was a mean evil monister but I took a whiff of him. He's a good monster" replied Comic. "He's strong, solid, reliable."
"Wow he sounds like a bookcase!" said Article
"No he wasn't wooden." commented Comic with a look of confusion.
"When it comes to life she's dumber than a bag of barber hair." muttered Hinevtiable all for members looked at each other and nodded in agreement.

Had an incident occured like this tonight, that is how it would have gone. I had no inspiration tonight to write a thrilling story about how we saved millions of rabits from a flaming forest, possibly because of the absence of the group. If at midnight I feel creative juices flowing I may return to write a rather exciting story. On the other hand I may just go to bed like normal people.
But I shall leave you with one question "Is that a wocket in your pocket?"

Totally Time-Worthy Monday

We had to switch it up this week due to other obligations... But we're finally ALL TOGETHER!!! With a cheese ball!! We met at the movies to watch Morning Glory - it was funny enough. We always have fun when we're together so it works. We can't remember the funny lines, but there were a few. And now in honor of Christmas Break we're watching White Christmas with Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye. I don't know how these girls have gone all these years and not seen it.

Well Christin just threw water at Aprille for not knowing who Russell Crowe...it was amusing.

Dear Dedicated Readers,
We are sorry that our blog has been delayed this week. The road conditions forced some of us to leave early so we did not have time to blog (though it would have been totally time-worthy). Tuesday we were surprised when we watched a random Hallmark movie that was not completely lame! The plot line was basic and it was rather predictable however, there were many humorous lines in it.

Indulge in our favorites:
"I took a whiff of him and he's a good guy!" coming from the Fonz this is quite hysterical.

Another line was, "Between you and me, I've met more interesting door knobs!"

"When it comes to life she's dumber than a bag of barber hair"

Also we learned to never trust a man with an $800 dollar pair of shoes! This will come in handy in life I'm sure. We also briefly celebrated the birth of a dear member of Totally Time-worthy Tuesdays with some salty chips and salsa (she seems to have an addiction).

He's a terrible actor, ugh he drives me crazy. Sorry, commercial break with him in it...

We had a new member join us tonight. It was quite a delight. One needed a perm and the other fascilitated. Unfortunately the stench from the perm solution nearly overwhelmed the wonderful aroma of baking pretzels. Essays were graded, hair was permed and pretzels were baked. What a well rounded group we have!!

THE SEXIEST MAN ALIVE!! That was the much debated topic of the night. 3 to 1 say that Ryan Reynolds should most definitely NOT have won. He's cute, attractive, whatever - but NOT the Sexiest Alive!! James Franco, Enrique Iglesias, Matthew McConaughey, or Josh Duhamel even, but come on.... So yeah, that we a brief description of our evening.

Sexiest Man Alive? YESSSSS I THINK SO! (not only is he sexy he is an incredible actor. example... Camille)

Considered Sexiest Man Alive. I agree he is sexy but sexiest??? Sexier face and maybe he would win.

Tonight I person two of the second party ( I believe that is how it should be put... no matter) I was the reason we were not able to participate in our weekly Time’ Worthy Tuesdays. So here are my humble apologies for causing this terrible disaster.
My day was normal. Actually better than normal I ran a mile with no pain then went on to school with my endorphins pumping! (Endorphins make people happy! And happy people don’t just kill someone!!!!) I attended play practice from 3pm-10pm which is indeed the cause for my absence on this Tuesday evening. The play is going rather well. It is hysterical there were moments where I was crying because of its humorous moments.
I would love to explain mort in depth as to its humor but it is necessary that I go and write a research paper. So farewell my fellow friends! I missed you all tonight.

NOT a Time-Worthy Tuesday

Due to prior commitments (school play) on the party of the 3rd part, the party of the first part is stuck at home with nothing to do. The toilets and sinks in the house are now quite clean though. AND the candles in the pumpkins have been lit - other than that, I'm waiting for the party of the second part to come home from nannying so CASTLE can be viewed.

It's really a wonderful show...

Makes me laugh....

Contemplating spray-painting the fan.... But it's cold and dark out and I'm just not really in the mood. Maybe I'll research old Marilyn Monroe movies. The party of the 2nd part and the party of the 1st part (that would be me) watched "How to Marry a Millionare" and it was absolutely fantastic. Maybe next Tuesday we will watch it since M&J will not be airing until Spring. I'm boring myself, so for now, I bid you adieu.....

No really, there's some guy named Joe Trippi!!! Isn't that just the coolest name ever! We had some terrible news today. [Brace yourselves] MELISSA & JOEY IS ON HOLD UNTIL SPRING 2011!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Apparently, ABC only "requested" 10 episodes. The show is fantastic so thankfully they've ordered 20 more epsiodes! But... it wont be out for 6 more months!!! Since the election is over we're finally working on our prank for the cranky neighbor. We'll have to let you know how that turns out! So here's some great jokes we heard tonight....

So Halloween is approaching and the night is dark and wet, perfect for a creeper to come a calling...

Upon arrival for Totally Time-Worthy Tuesdays we jacked up some lanterns - old school. Just a knife and a spoon. Oh and the pumpkins look fancrappintastic!!! Since some of our members were overseas last week we had 2 episodes to catch up on. They did bring back some foreign delicacies so it's all good.

Thiss Halloween we all decided to cut holes in paper bags and go as groceries. ha ha ha, no really - we are!! This week's episode had some wonderful advice for those young men looking for some loving - nerdy or not, this pickup line works. No joke! "Your eyes are the color of the highest alert for beauty." Now that's some hot stuff! Hopefully that advice wins you some admirers this Halloween, and maybe if you were out of ideas for a costume we helped with that too! Oh and by the way - if you could see the dance moves going on in this room right now you'd probably pee your pants.

It has been a recent tradition to assemble as friends, nay family - and enjoy the fine acting of Melissa & Joey. We have a light refreshment (tonight we nibbled on a few scrumptious Sociables {no payment was received for the mention of this product} and enjoyed libations). Included in our Time-Worthy Tuesdays, are other forms of media - anyway, we are running short on time, but we would like to mention our new favorite movie: CAMILLE.
