In a Jam

 
 
Dear faithful readers -
 
We are in a bit of a jam.  As I'm sure you've noticed, we've been slacking quite a bit on our posts recently.  As much as we love sharing our enjoyment of television, and coupon cutting, and attractive men, it would seem that this blog might have run its course.  We're severly behind on our Melissa & Joey  and our Baby Daddy episodes; and recent circumstances make everyone being together a bit hard to come by.  We'll do our best to share whenever we do get together, but for now you might have to tide yourselves over by rereading old posts.

Going back in the vault - I'm sure all of our long-time readers remember this post from way back in the day.  Some of our best work...  So we're a day late (and a dollar short), but we decided we'd give you a glimpse of some of the hottest bald men of all time (in honor of when Joe was bald) and because this slideshow inspired us...

Independence Day 2013

A great 4th of July message courtesty of Operation First Response


AMERICA – 4th of July

What does the Fourth of July mean to you?
Parades? Fireworks? A day off from School or Work?
Here is some information on the true meaning of the birthday of our country.
On July 4th, 1776, John Hancock, who was president of the Continental Congress and Charles Thomsom, who was the Secretary,
signed the Declaration of Independence, a document that stated we were no longer willing to be ruled by the British.

“The Price They Paid”

Have you ever wondered what happened to those who signed the Declaration of Independence?
Five signers were captured by the British as traitors, and tortured before they died.
Twelve had their homes ransacked and burned.
Two lost their sons in the Revolutionary Army, another had two sons captured.
Nine of the 56 fought and died from their wounds or the hardships of the Revolutionary War.

What kind of men were they?

Twenty-four were lawyers and jurists.
Eleven were merchants, nine were farmers and large plantation owners, men of means, well educated.
But they signed the Declaration of Independence knowing full well that the penalty would be death if they were captured.
They signed and they pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor.

Carter Braxton of Virginia, a wealthy planter and trader, saw his ships swept from the seas by the British navy.
He sold his home and properties to pay his debts, and died in rags.

Thomas McKeam was so hounded by the British that he was forced to move his family almost constantly.
He served in Congress without pay, and his family was kept in hiding.
His possessions were taken from him, and poverty was his reward.

Vandals looted the properties of Ellery, Clymer, Hall, Walten,
Gwinnett, Heyward, Rutledge, and Middleton.

At the Battle of Yorktown, Thomas Nelson, Jr. noted that the British General Cornwallis, had taken over the Nelson home for his headquarters. The owner quietly urged General George Washington to open fire, which was done. The home was destroyed, and Nelson died bankrupt.

Francis Lewis had his home and his properties destroyed.
The enemy jailed his wife, and she died within a few months.

John Hart was driven from his wife’s bedside as she was dying.
Their 13 children fled for their lives.
His fields and his grist mill were laid to waste. For more than a year he lived in forests and caves, returning home after the war to find his wife dead, his children vanished.
A few weeks later he died from exhaustion and a broken heart.

Norris and Livingston suffered similar fates.

Such were the stories and sacrifices of the American Revolution.

These were not wild eyed, rabble-rousing ruffians.
They were soft spoken men of means and education.
They had security, but valued liberty more.
Standing tall, straight, and unwavering, they pledged:

“For the support of this Declaration, with firm reliance on the protection of the Divine
Providence, we mutually pledge to each other, our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred
honor.”

The character of those great Americans so long ago is the same character displayed
by the men and women of the United States Armed Forces
that continue the fight of Freedom and Independence for this great nation.

Guests!!

We actually had several guests tonight, but only one stayed the whole time - GRANDMA!  Gotta love her, she took out her hearing aids, so I'm not sure how much she even heard :)  We were ALL in attendance, so that was a nice change.  We tried our hand at some hair dyeing (since we didn't have any coupons to clip), but it didn't really work.  No really, it didn't dye the hair at all.  Oh well, no harm done.  Anyway, here are some quick "shots" of the episodes we watched last night.

We were especially fond of the scene where Ryder is arguing with the neighbor girl and asked her out while shouting.  Too funny.
 
We started watching some Baby Daddy episodes last week, but realized we weren't watching them in order.  So this week, we started with the first one and now the ones we watched last week are making a bit more sense :)  Funny how that works...

At Last...

Hard to believe, but we've finally had a real TTWT.  One could argue that the bachelorette party was a TTWT, but I'm not entirely sure it qualifies.  Sadly, one of our long-standing, ever-present members was unable to make it tonight.  She was greatly missed...  We might have been able to cut all those coupons a lot quicker with another pair of hands...  Anyway - so what did we think of all those Melissa & Joey episodes?  We loved them :)




They're always so witty... We definitely did not get caught up yet, but we're much closer.  One of our favorite lines was when Mel & Joe found out that Rider had been caught smoking pot and Joe held up a pot and said "They better mean this kind of pot!"  It was totally something our father's would have said - they have the same sense of humour.  Oh and the scene where you find out that the actor opposite Lennox is gay?  Did not see that coming and we were not fans...awkward.  Anyone have any favorite lines?  Leave them in the comments!!  We would have written down our favorites to share with you, but we were all busily cutting coupons....

We also watched a few Baby Daddy  episodes before the old married lady arrived.  Somehow we didn't start with the season premiere though, so things were a bit out of order, but whatever.  They were quite commical so it was fine (in a cheesy, but you-laugh-anyway kind of way). 

Gotta love these two (now if that shrink would just get out of the picture!!!)...

Have you ever seen California?

Well, the bridal shower we mentioned in our last post was beautiful and everyone had a good time.  Since TTWT was hosting and had the guest of honor, we didn't get much time to hang out and chat.  In order to remedy the situation, we've decided the "Bachelorette" party would be the perfect way to accomadate this.  So tonight, we're heading out :) 
 
Think we'll have any luck seeing him tonight?  Maybe if we were in California...

Life can get crazy...

Our sincerest apologies for our absence from TTWT.  Between school (and graduation for one of our lovely members) and wedding planning we've all been a bit preoccupied lately.  And sadly, this post will hardly make up for our lack of blogging.  We'll all be together again this weekend for a bridal shower and we can't wait!  But, for those of our readers (and TTWT members) who haven't found "The One' - we submit some options (because we always like to be super helpful)...

So I'd Like to Know Where You Got the Notion

Well school has been a steady part of the majority of our member's lives of late, so we do apologize for the lack of posts recently.  After a rather lengthy hiatus, we had a mini-TTWT this past weekend to celebrate a very special member's birthday :)

I would say that no matter how hard the road less traveled may be (and no matter how many thorns or rocks you find)- it's always worth doing the right thing (which is often the road less traveled).  Stand up for what is right - keep doing what is right & don't quit!  Try to make the world a better place every day.

Oh Happy Day!


I know how excited I get when I receive a return letter from a Soldier I've written to, so I can only hope they were half as excited to get my letter as I am to get theirs! 

In light of that, I wanted to share this sweet card we received from a soldier to whom we sent a Christmas card and one of our pictures.  It is always nice to know that the letters and cards we have sent were received and enjoyed.

Nothing like a good laugh....

My Dear Friends and Fellow Followers,

       
          I have returned to college and am quickly getting into the swing of things. For your information I have been reading a lot, paying attention in (most) classes, sleeping, eating , exercising, and studying among other things. College has been rather exciting lately. 
          For example I recently (today) found my snail (Squirty) in his cage and he looked very ill. I thought he was dead because he was not sticking to the glass and he was all black. Upon finding this horrific sight I quickly took a picture and sent it to my cousin who has cared for Squirty prior to this and is very knowledgeable in the ways of species of the water. He said to do nothing and wait in hopes that Squirty would return to life, like he had done when he was at his apartment. So I left lifeless Squirty to his bowl and with his friend Squishy, hoping that he might survive.  I have great news friends!!!!                   Squirty LIVES! I found him alive and cleaning the cage after class.

        I miss my family very dearly. I hope you all are doing well and that you are taking care of great Pennsylvania while I am gone. Here are some final words to remember. Do not date a man that is solid (like a bookshelf). When sad and alone listen to Dolly Parton. If you slip in someones intestines do not worry for it is probably just their chicken dinner and don't forget that we do not dig wells on Sundays. It is not a nut cracker, it is a nut crusher. Always keep your llama close by for he will never leave you and finally laugh, "the most wasted of all days is one without laughter." So if you haven't laughed your necessary amount to day. iI give you this video to finish the job.
